Anthropic ships Sonnet 5.5: 30% faster, cheaper, beats Opus 5.5 on agentic coding

Anthropic released Sonnet 5.5, its mid-tier model, claiming it runs 30% faster than Sonnet 5 (released about three months ago) with a significantly slower token burn rate. Its benchmarks show it beating Opus 5.5 on agentic coding, helped by spawning multiple agents without exceeding cost limits.

It is the first Sonnet subject to the same cyber safeguards as Fable and Opus, since Anthropic says its cyber capabilities are comparable to Opus 5. A new Haiku is promised in the coming weeks, with no firm date.

KwikGEO/KwikCOD: Cheaper, faster agentic inference lowers the cost of running audit and monitoring agents; worth benchmarking Sonnet 5.5 for KwikGEO pipelines.
