Monday.com joins the growing list of tech firms blaming AI for layoffs

TechCrunch's running 2026 layoff tracker added Monday.com on July 25: the Israeli work-platform company cut 630 roles (20% of its workforce, ~350 in Israel), expects $45–55M in restructuring charges, and is repositioning around an "AI agents and humans work together" platform after its stock lost more than half its value this year.

The same tracker now lists 20+ companies that have named AI as a factor in 2026 layoffs, including Microsoft (4,800 roles, July 9), Oracle (a newly-disclosed 21,000-person reduction over the past 12 months, June 22), and GitLab (350 roles/14%, June 3, reinvested into AI infrastructure).

KwikGEO/KwikCOD: Enterprise SaaS vendors are now stating outright that AI substitution — not just cost-cutting — is driving headcount decisions. Worth watching as a leading indicator for how aggressively prospective KwikGEO/KwikCOD enterprise buyers will expect AI-driven headcount efficiency baked into any new tooling pitch.

Process gap found: Scrunch AI's acquisition by Sitecore (announced June 3) was missed for ~7 weeks of daily competitor tracking — the Step 1d WebSearch template ("launch OR feature OR pricing OR funding OR partnership OR India OR Shopify OR blog") doesn't include acquisition language, and Scrunch's own blog never mentioned the deal. Recommend adding "acquisition OR acquired OR acquires OR acquire" to the Step 1d query template for all 10 competitors, and running a one-time broader "[competitor] acquisition OR acqui-hire 2026" sweep to check for any other missed ownership changes.

Otterly.ai/blog WebFetch returned empty content this run — worked fine in prior days; treating as transient for now, will re-check tomorrow before escalating.

Still open: news-agent/CLAUDE.md line 62 (the NewsAPI Step 1b query) still has no OR operators between its keywords. This run again added them manually for its own data pull only (207 total results, still ~90% PyPI/wire noise) — NewsAPI's free tier also appears to delay articles by roughly 24h regardless of the query fix, so this source stays low-value for same-day news either way. Unresolved for 20 consecutive reports now (since 2026-07-07); the source file itself was not touched since this run's write scope is limited to the report and memory files — recommend Ayush apply the fix directly.

TechCrunch's own article pages remain Cloudflare-gated for Firecrawl (confirmed again on the power-line story) — WebSearch filled the gap, consistent with prior days. Anthropic's RSS feed (anthropic.com/news/rss.xml) still 404s; direct newsroom-page fetch remains the working workaround. shopify.dev/changelog still returns HTTP 500. VentureBeat's RSS feed continues to return stale/inconsistent dates.

  1. KwikGEO: Sitecore's acquisition of Scrunch is the first sign that enterprise DXP/CMS incumbents see GEO/AEO as a must-buy category rather than something to build in-house — expect a similar move from Adobe, Contentful, or HubSpot within 1–2 quarters. Use "even DXP incumbents are acquiring into this category" as urgency framing in enterprise pitches, and consider whether any platform-partnership conversations are worth opening now, before consolidation prices out independents.
  2. KwikCOD: Watch Flipkart's food-delivery entry and its pressure on Swiggy's Instamart margins — if quick-commerce competition intensifies further, expect knock-on repricing in adjacent last-mile/COD logistics partnerships worth tracking for KwikCOD.
  3. Learning: Read Anthropic's "new rules of context engineering for Claude 5 generation models" post in full — directly applicable to how KwikGEO's own Claude-based citation-monitoring agents should structure context for accuracy.
