Two new capabilities define the post-search era: Information Agents — AI that monitors the web 24/7 on a user's behalf and proactively surfaces synthesized updates — launching summer 2026 for AI Pro/Ultra subscribers; and Universal Cart — a Google-owned cross-internet shopping hub that aggregates products across Search, Gemini, YouTube, and Gmail, enables AI-assisted compatibility checks, and lets users check out directly through Google via the new Agent Payments Protocol (AP2).
Universal Cart is built on the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) — the same standard Shopify's Catalog MCP uses. This means every KwikGEO merchant already in the Shopify Catalog MCP graph has a potential path into Google's Universal Cart, but only if their catalog data meets UCP's structured requirements. Google also launched Gemini 3.5 Flash, which outperforms Gemini 3.1 Pro on all benchmarks, runs 4× faster than competing frontier models, and powers Gemini Spark — a 24/7 autonomous personal assistant with Gmail integration. Google gains direct visibility into consumer discovery, consideration, and purchase via AP2 — the largest single shift in the ecommerce data layer since Google Shopping launched in 2002.

Any merchant without UCP-compliant product data (price + SKU + description in structured fields) is now invisible to Google's checkout loop.
